Thank you both, good job I cut the lawns today! The grass had grown tremendously in the good weather we had this past week while I have been on holiday....to Iceland, so much so it took me well over an hour to mow them. Jerry, yes, I am also hopefull we will get a good summer this year as we are well overdue.

Thanks Stuart, it's actually an obesum, a Dang Siri I believe, but I agree, the flared base does look Arabicum like doesn't it? It was seed sown in 2010 by Brian, a member who has some spectacular plants and who frequented the forum a while back but doesn't post now due to other commitments he informs me. Not quite sure of the year he generously gifted it to me along with one of Mr Ko's crosses, need to check. It was rather tall so I cut the leading shoot back and it's gone on to produce a few more branches like you see above.

Gill,. Your tree looks so good I this pot. It always amazes me when you pot up a tree such as this, it looks so much larger. Those bowls in that shape are one of my favorites and it reminds me of Laura's bowl for Buddha Belly.

Yard looks so amazing. Just love the rolling hillsides with the hedgerows.

Thank you Rick. I thought the pot was too big when I looked at them in the store. Then when I got it home I wondered if it was deep enough! If you check out the second pic it looks way to shallow, but with just having the mass of fine roots and no big roots to accommodate, it worked just fine. So I'm glad I used it as I prefer these kind of bowls compared to the regular flowerpot shape.

I think that it looks tremendous in this pot, Gill. It has a wonderful balance, great eye appeal and symmetry.

Very nice, Gill! Your tree fits perfectly. I wouldn't choose a bigger nor smaller pot. Has your tree bloomed yet?

Martin, I have got this one to flower each year since I've had it, but that doesn't count in my book! I'm still awaiting flowers on my own seed grown plants and the buds on the one I spoke of in an earlier post are most definitely getting bigger.

Mmmmh, yes there is a lot of grass and that's just part of the back garden, there just as much at the front!

Ah, I remember the post about your other tree. It will bloom this year, if the sun doesn't take a long vacation here in April and in May. For sure. If I recall correctly it had buds late in the growing season last year and therefore the buds didn't mature. This year it is different.

That's a mighty fine spacious garden. May I put up my tent in your back garden, if I somehow get desoriented and end up in your area in England? ;-) Btw, you should consider buying a cow or two to graze your lawn. I would if I had such a garden. ;-)

Martin, the buds are swelling nicely and I'm sure they will mature this time round. You are correct in recalling they set in late summer on the previous occasions and failed before they opened as they 'ran out of energy'.

Your tent will be most welcome btw! As for cows they definitely won't I'm afraid....a few years ago someone left a field gate open and we hosted some 24 escapees from the farm behind us who decided our grass was greener than theirs. You can imagine what they did to/on our lawns and flower beds? IThe farmer had to get all our grass relaid via his insurance....we weren't amused one bit, and neither was he!

That's a great price for that pot, even converting to USD! I used to work at a garden center back in 2001, and we sold that size pot for $7 even then, and we couldn't keep them in stock. last time I repotted, I couldn't even find an azalea pot, so I just used a regular pot and filled the bottom half with rocks. Seems to have worked out o.k.
