help with window trim!

We had new windows installed recently. The carpenter put on the same trim that we have throughout our 1950s home, which is a typical colonial. I really don't like the way it looks. Too small and I would like something more substantial due to the size of the window system (large fixed with two casements flanking). See the pictures below. We also have crown moulding in the room which I have pictures below as well. I'm having a dilemma picking out the right interior trim for this window. I am somewhat limited in size due to the fireplace which is right next to the window. Below is one suggestion made by a friend/interior designer. It is a 3 1/4 trim. I'm wondering if most people due something bigger on the top and the bottom sill, with the sides smaller? What would you all recommend for trim? Also will it look strange to have the colonial trim elsewhere in the house and something different around this front window? Help!
