Dan, if you can get a few more photos of the leaves and stems, description of the growth habit, and note if it is fragrant, that would help. You might also ask on the Antique Roses forum.

Some more information from my dad:

It is fragrant with a rose smell. It lasts about three days on the vine and then the middle turns a lighter color and shortly the pedals start falling. It definitely will climb to get sunshine if it needs to. Otherwise, it stays a bush. I've had them as high as 15 feet up a tree. Cut it and bring it in and put it in water in the morning and it's ready to be thrown out by 5:00 p. m. It's not for cut flowers. They don't look so good when they start fading. The center goes to a light dull red and then the pedals drop. They do not go as light as some of these photos indicate

How large are those blooms? Does it repeat all summer?

It took a little while to get the answer, but it looks like 2" to 2.5" blooms, they typically bloom all summer and into fall, depending on how much sunshine they get. Occasionally, they bloom into winter in mid-Louisiana.

Its a China of some sort, but it would be difficult to say which one without seeing it in person (for color accuracy, etc). Too pink for 'Slaters Crimson' and too many petals for 'Old Blush', so I'm stumped.

Could it be Archduke Charles, with smaller blooms due to shady conditions?
