Yes, IMHO, faucets in the same room should match, not only in finish, but be from the same line from the same manufacturer. Otherwise it will look like you ran out of money and only changed one. Metals don't have to march in the room, you can do different light fixtures and hardware. It makes it more interesting and up to date.

I agree faucets should match at least in finish if not style.

I'm in the middle of this dilemma myself. I am renovating my one bathroom from a pedestal sink with all chrome fixtures to a vanity with all Kohler gold fixtures. My shower fixtures are all American Standard chrome fixtures and of course American Standard doesn't make gold fixtures. If I want to put in the same Kohler gold shower/tub fixtures then I have to have my plumber drill into the wall etc to change the inside valves etc. This is going to add to the cost of the job of course but it just seems silly to rip out perfectly nice and modern fixtures that are always going to be behind a curtain.. I think it is fine to mix metals! I recently hung gold pendant lighting in my silver kitchen and I got the design OK :)

I suggest you may want to start your own dilemma with photos. In general it is best to keep the faucets the same finish. Why not do the vanity faucet in chrome?

I say mix and match!
