Help identifying potential disease on potted tree

I have a small potted tree that last summer we kept outside and was beautiful. In the winter, we took it inside, and it didn't do as well. Now it is spring again and it looks pretty bad. I noticed bumps on the branches and thought it might have a disease, but also by the looks of it, it might be too little too late. I don't know what kind of plant it is, but perhaps someone could shed some light on what this is:

my key.. once IDd ... dont spend more fixing a problem.. than the plant is worth ... it might be much simpler.. to replace it ...

I'm in upstate NY. Yeah I certainly wouldn't spend a lot on a remedy, I just didn't know if there might be something easy I could do for it. Honestly, I got this for $2 last year on a clearance sale and it was a great plant for that year. If I knew what it was I'd buy another! Here's 2 more pics (i know, it looks pretty pathetic)

I'm not sure what that plant might have been, but I'd toss it in the garbage. That scale insect infestation is beyond help.

Was it an oleander plant?

you got your 2 bucks worth.. get rid of it ...

wash the pot out with 10% bleach ... look for something else ..

that forced air furnace duct cant have been any good for it ... and its an awful dark corner ... unless there is a window right next to it ...

Yeah there was a window right next to it, and I didn't think of the duct, but we have geothermal heat so the air coming out is only around 90, not like a furnace. But still I agree that it'll be going in the trash.
