What color is the tile? I guess it's staying?

I also suggest painting the cabinets a different color. If you need the wall cabinet, it can also be painted to match the sink cabinet.

Go for strong colour. I have similar tile colour in 1958 bath. Including pink sink and tub. And black marbled with pink faux marble counter. I painted whole bathroom with Benjamin Moore colour Louisiana Hot Sauce. Very dark reddish/brownish... I think a colour like that would work for you too. My bathroom looks terrific now. Even with the ugly tiles and it even made the black counter look amazing. I replace mirror with hammered silver very bold frame mirror on sale from Pier One. And new light fixture and new towel rods. Vase with silver spray painted branches in it. Whole project under 400 dollars. Am saving for big reno but until then it's totally functional and looks pretty good. Tried a lighter reddish brown colour first for a few years. Then went much darker. Haven't regretted for a second.

Consider painting the wall behind the two maple cabinets a somewhat darker gray or even a tan -- light brown without the pink or yellow hue -- as an accent wall.

Before you consider painting the cabinets, at least consider adding horizontal wallpaper trim / border tape at the top of the walls, preferably with it containing some of the colors you need to bring together the "color" of the maple cabinets with the grays in your room and another color you like to add a cheerful color to the room.

If you're actually considering painting the cabinets, first try painting only the sides and top and bottom of the overhead cabinet.

Everyone is going gaga over grey! Choose a color YOU like, not just what is trendy. Get some updated light fixtures, remove the mirror/medicine cabinet to the left of the oval mirror, and consider painting the maple and the walls in colors that please you. I've been enjoying shades of light blue in the periwinkle side, also sea glass green, both with creamy whites. Add some art work too. You might want to consider either re-tiling the tan shower, or removing the glass doors and using a nice shower curtain, perhaps one hung from the ceiling a la hospital curtain style. Very cool!
