    Hi, Deb

out here in Grants,nm it is in the mid 40s this morn. I put my broms

outside last wk it hasn't dropped below 40 since so they stay outside.

on the patio under a tree they had a rough winter so am trying to pamper

them. Is there a source for broms in ABQ?

The only places I've seen broms are grocery stores like Smiths and Albertsons, and they are the more common variety. Trader Joe's in Albuquerque Uptown (Louisana and Indian School) might have them (they get in a variety of plants, from herbs to orchids).

Rehm's Nursery, on Lomas between San Mateo and San Pedro, has a greenhouse for more delicate plants, and the woman who runs it has become more and more interested in Tillandsias, and I've bought some from her that were new to me. I have not seen that she has broms, but she does have scented geraniums.

There are other green houses in Albuquerque, particularly Osuna and Jericho, but they are on the northside of town and hard to get to by bus [the walk from 4th to Osuna Nursery is long, and also boring :( not enough trees with birds]. Oh, I think Jackalope Pottery, which has a nursery, may have broms (they had orchids last time I was there). They are on the north end of San Mateo, south of Nativo Lodge, on the east side of the street.

If you're in town and want to drive around, it might be worth taking some time to check out those places, but not surprisingly you'll find many more choices on line. Let me know if you have any luck finding good plants :)

I just recalled that last week I saw some large though probably common broms at the Walmart at San Mateo and Zuni, so they are probably at any Walmart with a garden center. Oddly that Walmart is also selling T. Ionantha in globes or cups with some moss for around $5 to $9. I wished I could find the department manager and offer them, say, $20 for all the plants only, to save them if I could because I felt sorry for the little plants that will surely die :( However, logically it's a lot cheaper to buy bundles of ionanthas at most online stores, and you can mount them however you want to. I've also seen "Pink Quill" plants at Walmart and Smith's, though they are Tillandsias.

I hope you make it there on delivery day. If you want to order from websites, this is a good time of year to do so, since it is not very cold at night and not very hot during the day yet. There are several California-based sellers that are closer to you than to me (by 100 miles or so), but also some good ones as far away as Kentucky and Florida. Indeed, recently I ordered from Plant Oddities in Kentucky (http://plantoddities.com/), which has a vast selection, and they sent the order to me using 2-day USPS priority (ground, I think) mail and sure enough, it took only two days, which was very nice. The plants have been doig well, too. Most likely whatever seller you go with will try their best to get good plants to you so you'll order again. Mail order for me is a good option.
