As a Lighting Showroom we have a broad array of lamp so as to have something in everyone's price range. You will almost always pay more for a brand name. You will almost always pay more if a design is specifically a certain style, ie., contemporary, mission etc. When shopping for floor lamps, watch for weight. A floor lamp should have a very heavy base to it so that it doesn't tip over on carpeting. It's very hard to shop online when you can't "feel" the weight or other aspects of the lamps. You mentioned Uttermost. Designers in our area like Uttermost and Currey & Co lamps and purchase them a lot. Another reason lamps may be more expensive is that a certain brand may have designers on staff or hire designers to design a particular set of lamps. This will drive the price higher. Another reason would be that a particular set of lamps go with a family of lighting fixtures that they may also sell. Or if it's a reproduction of an antique lamp. There are a myriad of reasons of course.
