Wondering why you chose to paint the ceiling blue...

Ignore the height of the ceiling. When you hang art work, hang it at eye level.

Better pictures of the entire space would help as the room appears very narrow.

The ceiling was painted professionally and corresponds to the dining room which is a shared space. Leaving white would have been even more stark

The painting is definitely too small. That's the problem. I used it to show the amount of space I have to fill in. It would not be going there

I suggest blinds for the windows, I feel they work well with big windows, as for the carpet it is definitely small, I would say go with a bigger size brighter colors to offset the dark sofa color. I attached a photo of my formal living room where I used blinds.

Judy is so right -- ignore the height -- that's just space and it doesn't need to be filled.

You can cover the upper arched windows or leave the arched areas bare. You might want to call in a window covering firm for some help. You also need tables and colour.

It's a beautiful room. I'm in agreement with groveraxle to do as little as necessary to your windows. Relax, it will all come together.

Ignore anything over 8 feet on the walls. Concentrate on grounding floor with large pieces like a coffee table etc.

As suggested, I hope the Windows can stay bare and be the focal point of room.you could look into film that goes on glass to cut transfer of heat/ sun. I like shutters. An expensive commitment, but they don't fade, don't go out of style or fight with design changes.

First, you GO! Painting that great ceiling blue is an awesome design move! Everyone is right on the art, hang it at your eye height, you want to look at it and see details. If you have a ginormous piece of art, you can use the bottom edge as a guide, and hang the piece so it is about 6 ins from the sofa back. By ginormous, I mean at least 6 ft by 4 ft. Houzz just had a story/article about a home with really large art pieces, you might want to look at it, the space included murals from photos, or engineering prints. The ceiling makes your space eclectic, eclectic means you can have fun with it!

Please paint the wall vents the same color as the walls. Your room is lovely. The sofa you have is gorgeous. I suggest your next move is a rug...much bigger. Patience will help you make the best purchasing decisions. So, do you love your current rug and can get in a larger size? If not, what colors were you thinking for this room?

Blue Booby...u r right. A bigger rug would do the trick. I want to bring down the "blue". Thought that would good with ceiling. Tables? Don't know which way to go. Thinking Mirror...which would reflect the blue and the light.

I have a feeling that torchiere lamp casts spooky shadows at night when it's on. I'd replace it with something that won't be so harsh.

Love it!!!! Heading out to look for a bigger rug. That's what had me stuck. Love the Windows!!! The table is perfect. I saw it online!

The rug is too small. Instead of a coffee table, use end tables with the sofa (to put things down conveniently and to hold generous lamps. An interesting round table should go with the chair. I would leave the arched part of the window uncovered, and hang drapes from the crossbar.
