I'd say you're very close; it already looks very nice. A rug would bring in some warmth and some color. Some simple drapes to frame the window would also add color and make the room feel more "finished". If you're stuck on what colors to use, just look at your painting. If it's a must for your bedroom, then let it dictate the color scheme.

I think it looks great but I agree add a fluffy rug and long drapes to make it feel soft and cozy.

What about it doesn't feel right to you? I agree that it looks very good - just consider adding or switching out the throw pillows or, as Jackie says, a rug (which is always nice on feet first thing in the morning!). Use a vibrant color - maybe a blue/teal from the picture - to add some punch.

I'm also a fan of small tables or footstools near chairs for setting water/tea and a book.

Add an area rug. I like the table side lamps but they are almost a little hotel room for me. Shelving with some kind of contemporary scupltor/ceramic/art.

I would do a fluffy rug as well- maybe try and pull out a color from your art work to add drapes to the window?

I don't think drapes are necessary but the rug is a good idea. Mainly though, new bedding that will look more inviting

Have you thought of trying larger lamps with one of your favorite colors from the painting? Your bedroom is very close. It just needs the final touch that makes you happy.

I just want to thank all of you for your wonderful suggestions. I agree an area rug would warm up my room because I have dark floors and furniture. I have a king size bed what size rug would work its not a large room? Also what color rug and drapes? Should I keep the bedding white? I do have a chrome side table that is not visible in the picture that I keep by the chair. I Know the accessories make the room and that is where I need the help. Where should I start first with the rug, bedding, then drapes? Again I want to thank all of you for all of your suggestions and pictures. I appreciate your help very much.

If you are sure you want a change then bedding comes first. I think your current bedding is fine.

I saw this rug sample today.The size is 8x10 . What is your opinion of this rug and color ? Or should I be looking for more muted colors like Rug Knots had suggested because of the painting? I welcome all of your opinions and suggestions.

I chose the more muted rug because I think it created a very calm and serene atmosphere. But you can absolutely go a little more bold. I think that pattern in an 8x10 will be a little overwhelming.

Rugknots, thanks so much for your opinion and for sending me the visual of the rug under my bed. You are right I need to find a rug that has a softer feel. It's been difficult finding a rug that has some of the same colors as the painting and then there is the green chair. Could you send me another picture of the rug so I could see the colors in it. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you very much for your help with this project.

If you're pulling the rug under the bottom 1/3 of the bed a great deal of it will not show. Use painter's tape to tape out where an 8x10 would land around the bed. Remember, it shouldn't run into furniture or walls, but it should extend out on the sides for your tootsies!

I noticed you have yellow and orange tones in the painting...what if instead of green you went with a soft warm tone?

RugKnots: Thank you for the picture showing the rug under my bed. The painting doesn't have orange in it although with the light shinning in I see the orange too. I feel the rug might fight with the painting. Maybe, I need the rug to be softer looking as you 1st suggested.
