I would buy a new rug first, something that you really love, and use the colors from the rug for accessories. A pretty console would be perfect and either a bench or chair, whichever one fits best.

You may want to define the overall feel you want. Do you like antiques, modern, farmhouse? For instance one look could be a mix of rustic/modern and farmhouse like the look below. A black lantern would suit your door, floors and this style. A hemp rug like you have is ideal, only larger. That's one look, but I would suggest searching small foyers to help you decide first on the direction and then start to look at pieces that you like and how they are combined. The layout you suggested would be perfect.

It would work in a foyer and a chandelier is a perfect jumping off point in designing the rest of the space. Make sure you like a more formal, but modern foyer.

It might be overkill with a bench, since there would already be two chairs. What about art above the console and a large mirror on the short wall or vice versa? Sometimes less is more and you could start with the idea above and then decide. As well, I don't think hooks suit the look of the above foyer's style - unless you need them.
