There are several colors that would look great in this room. What color of furniture do you have? Do you have a rug for this room and if you do, what color is it? Whatever colors are in a rug you purchase for a room dictates what colors you use in that room including paint.

They will help tone done the warm tone overload in the space.

I would paint it Sherwin Williams griege gray or Dorian gray. These colors of gray are middle of the road & would look great! Of course, if you would like a lighter color of gray....agreeable would be great but it's almost white.

The slate looks rec roomish. It's dictatorial, so get rid of it.

That is bossy slate. I would remove it from the walls and replace the drywall. If you don't have the budget, paint it out the wall colour. I would love to see new stone or tile on the floor in front of fireplace only. Don't suppose you have any extra wood flooring? Built in cabinets under the windows on both sides of fireplace would be a nice addition and extra storage. That way your paint isn't being dictated by the boss of your house, that slate!

Hard to say without seeing your furniture. I would also remove the slate because it's too overpowering and dated.

The wall color that it is, is very nice. So I take it you haven't even moved in yet? Those furnishings are yours or the current owners?

ok, the paint color, just needs to loose the peach under tone, the beige is not bad. and the slate is busy but it isnt awful. i would actually want to remove the wall that leads to the the dining room. if you do paint the slate, dont pant it the wall color paint it a darker shade.

The furniture in the pictures is the sellers furniture. We'll be buying new furniture for this room. Also, we don't have any leftover materials from the seller. And lastly, I don't think the wall between the livimg room and kitchen can be removed because it has stairs on the other side of it.

I believe I'd paint it white for starters, to match the woodwork. That'll remove the main problem without introducing anything new that you'll have to match or work with, and you can move your own things in and see what you've got. It's not a big paint job -- you can easily switch it later -- and really, the choice of paint colors does depend upon what you're putting in the room.

Wait until you move in and see what your things look like. There are some pretty blues out there too.
