I think a cool cream would look great on the clapboard. If you did a medium or darker-toned, warm gray on the shakes and a gold door, that would look lovely!

That's a beautiful example above...but if you're looking at a gray or green....do a gray/green! A wonderful compromise and do creamy ivory trim with your redish color door...not bright red, but a duller darker red!

Open up the porch...use the body color on all clapboard siding and trim; house sets up from eye level so using the soffit color (your creamy white idea ) would be nice....

All I'm going to say is that in my opinion the "darkest" color should always be on the bottom. Visually the dark color looks heavy and the light color on the bottom looks too weak to carry the weight of the dark top. Switch them.

Shearer is bang on with his advice that the siding should be one colour and the trim and soffits another colour. This house has a good balance of trim and walls so it can handle a strong colour. I would love to see a house like this in a bold yellow like Benjamin Moore Hawthorne Yellow or a great green like BM Hillside Green.

Looks just like homes we have here in Oak Park, IL. I like AMN's grey. I would put another color at the base, bottom of the house. at the first floor. Also bottom paint should be lighter than the top!..

Beautiful! Doing the trim on the porch a different color than the rest of the porch made a huge difference in showing the detail and the colors you choose are really nice!
