It's not ruined. But I confess I am not understanding the tile with the granite

When your grout is a different color than the tile, expect it to look a little different until it is cleaned off properly. I found this out when my husband tiled the bathroom in our last house. Once he thoroughly cleaned the grout off, it looked like it was supposed to.

Personally like the pattern play of the counter and tile!:)

Remove it now, before it sets up too hard. It's not the grout that ruined the look.

After removing the thick grout sludge you need to give a final wipe with just water wiping at an angle across the grout lines let sit for 24 to 48 hours than clean again with plain water after 5 days you can than use a neutral cleaner or tile restorers to bring back the tiles original luster. In most climates it typically takes grout about 5 days to fully cure so adding any chemicals during this time can ruin the grout color. Best of luck!

Some tiles do absorb the grout color it depends on what type of tile and I too wonder about the tile with the granite. It is always scary when the grout goes on but the tile will look fine when all the haze is gone and the grout is dry.

I think this will look really nice once you follow the cleaning suggestions others have given. Before grouting it looks rather busy with your granite, but after I feel it blends in nicely.

If that is natural stone DO NOT use vinegar and water solution to clean. You will etch the stone. You will need to go to your local flooring store and purchase a grout haze remover that is safe for natural stone.

It is quite common for the tile installation to look differently after grout has been placed. Your color selection with that counter top is wonderful.

You may consider using an enhancing sealer. To come to the decision of using an enhancer or to just seal the counter will require wetting the stone. Wipe water onto the stone blot dry with a paper towel. If you prefer the darker look of the stone with water you will be using an enhancing sealer. There are penetrating sealers that do not change the color of the stone as well.

Also consider using a flexible grout:

That is available in the same color as your grout. Use it where the tile meets the wall and granite. If you use grout at these places it surely will show a crack in a month or two. The caulk is available sanded or unsanded. You would be using sanded.

The tile should have been sealed before grouting.

Vinegar water would be fine in that case.

Use safe crystals solution (follow safety instructions, it's much less odor and safer to work with than using muriatic acid like some tile guys do) to wash the tile after grouting is done. Then apply sealer. I prefer non color enhancing penetrating sealer. A color enchanting sealer will make your tile / stone get darker.

It sounds like you kind of liked the dark (grout less) lines between the tiles. Then when the grout was applied it changed the overall feel.

So this is sealed, I'm loving the end result.
