I should mention that I'm going for a cozy but modern feel. The couches and blinds must go. and I don't use the gas fireplace.

Thank you Ted!! Fireplace stays even tho I don't use right now. I love the look of it. I would prefer to mount my tv above fireplace (or mount in general) however it is all brick and seems pricey. The kid toys can be put elsewhere. Yes I need storage. Here are pics of the tv wall and back couch wall:

HOw bright is the room? I see you have the lights on in the photo even though it appears to be day time? Do you need a mirror opposite the windows to bounce more light around the room?

Brown chair and ottoman goes also. Not comfortable. but I do like the color against the red brick. I would like to get either a couch or chairs in a rich brown leather (modern but comfortable) to complement the red brick fireplace. Then I'd like the corresponding couch/chairs to be an upholstered dark gray or a color. I need side tables and an ottoman/coffee table, as well as media console and maybe some plants and art...

How about taking advantage of the built in turn it from a bar into a media and storage center. Place the tv here, store games and toys. Face a comfortable couch or modern sectional facing. The fireplace I would white wash to modernize it hang Roman shades on each side for a contemporary look that will allow you to control the light and for privacy a couple of reading chairs on each side with table that could be used for board games or place to sit a beverage while reading. Since you love the rug use this as inspiration when selecting sofa. I would suggest an easy care fabric that you can add color to with pillows and a throw

Yes I like all three of those. I am more confused about how to structure the room because of the fireplace Windows and all the doors and it's a long room.

I thought about putting the tv on the bar but it seems like I would create two separate seating areas that way and I don't want that. Meaning if I have a sofa facing the bar, the sofas back is to the fireplace. I don't like that.

Other ideas for where to put things and what I should get?

No we don't use that slider

I would mount the TV on the wall to the right of the fireplace, on a swivel arm. That way you can put a sofa facing your fireplace, with 2 chairs on one side facing the tv and one chair next to the tv. It keeps the focal point on your fireplace. If you don't use the bar, you could pull it out and turn in into an area you will use. Maybe a long work surface for the kids to do homework, or projects, or use it for shelving or closed storage for the kids stuff.
