You pretty much have a clean canvas. Start with the floor tile. Select one that you like. You can go in the direction of brown tones. Grey slate like tiles. I would not do white or beige. Ones you have that selected you can then choose the paint color based of that selection. I am thinking a yellow would look good. This is what I am picking up from the photo. Good luck.

I would also suggest you go with a light tile. I have cabinets similar to the color of yours and even though I'm not crazy about the tile, it is light and looks great with the cabinets. Light yellow paint will probably look great on your walls (that's the color I'm using for my kitchen). Try Soft Buttercup from Behr paints. It has just enough yellow to know it's there but without being overpowering.

I'm not a big fan of yellow. I was thinking dark floor, only because we had a light floor and it just looked so dirty all the time (dog and kids in and out!)
I just don't want it to look too dark, maybe I could go with a slate style floor but go light on the walls?
