We garden organically and try to treat our soil and plants well. The last few days, I've noticed the many seed stalks our sorrel ( "common" or "garden" sorrel) plants are putting up. Since we do not need any more sorrel in our herb bed - elf-seeded or otherwise - my thought is to cut the seed stalks. I reason, too, that the leafy growth (the part that we harvest) will benefit from this, as the plants' energy will go there.

But I wonder if there is any substantial reason to leave the seed stalks in-place on the plants?
