A few thoughts...you could put five similarly framed photos or pictures around it like this:

or you could put a white floating shelf over the TV ( and put your photos that are under the TV on that shelf) and add a tall floor lamp in place of the branch in the vase.

I would also suggest a more substantial sized shelf/cabinet/table beneath the TV and one that isn't as close in size ( width) as the TV.

Point taken, I will look for frames and prints to enliven the wall, and eventually replace the table beneath the TV. If you don't mind, should I ditch the photo collage, what might look better?

Do a dramatic black wall and add a long white credenza for a strong contrast. The TV will disappear!

I was thinking the five picture arrangement Diane Land suggested was a great idea. I actually know the rule of too many small objects equals clutter, I will remove the small pictures. A tall vase my not work due to obstruction of TV.

This is actually probably enough as shown below. I note you have shelves on the fireplace wall, so you don't need a lot of stuff here. Blow up your most compelling photos and put them in larger frames. Consider replacing the ubiquitous (and boring) vase of sticks with a real live plant.

I lowered your TV so it's just above the shelf. If you can do that, it will probably be a better viewing height.

The sticks are officially gone ;) Lowering the tv would absolutely improve my neck pain. I actually have a white bookcase an inch taller and an inch wider than the present console. Better, maybe, but maybe still not wide enough.I originally thought of it for the tv area, but found another spot, I'm not married to where it is placed now. Will move it when I get some assistance. BTW the shelves above the bar are a bit of an eyesore for me. Been thinking of taking down and putting an art piece, or because I do like the storage and display, 1-2 simple floating shelves. I love your suggestions. Thank you.

No frame around TV, that is just where I patched the wall to put in the console and TV. Do lower the TV over a new console. Console should be at least 25% longer than TV size. Check out overstock.com and wayfair.com for some consoles that are nice, but won't break the bank.

Thank you. Love the percentage formula for width of console. That will really help. I'll check out the websites. For now, I'm going to move my white bookcase/console and place it under tv, remove small cluttered pictures, replace with a plant, and look into your 5 picture idea above and around the tv. I will post when I complete each section if anyone is interested.

So you are going to do a white shelf under the TV...that will look nice....black is not just a modern color...it can really look beautiful in a traditional space.

Oh sorry...i had posted to paint the wall dark behind tv so it would just disappear.....it can be done in a traditional setting not only modern...I have seen it done with very traditional furniture and added framed art around it. The white cabinet would pop and take attention away from the tv.

Oh and I think for that wall so close to another cabinet(wall built in) the smaller cabinet will work just fine anything longer will bring it to close to that wall..sometimes you just have to break the rules...

I got the help I needed to move in a white bookcase, I've decorated the shelves with what I have on hand. I'm really pleased with the overall look. Comments on the decor in the shelves welcome. Step two, adding 5 framed pictures around the tv. Any and all suggestions on what color frames I should use.? All of the other framed art is black in the room. Thank you for your interest and excellent suggestions.

Here is a recommendation. The wall mount doesn't. Necessarily help you in this situation as the wall is plain. We put a larger console, shelf and decor around the tv to give it a base and surround. All of his can be done for less than $1000. We also added a small piece of trim below our crown moulding. Only 8 foot ceilings here.

Looking great! I'd suggest black frames with white mats to tie it all together.

I can understand you might not want a black wall, but how about a dark grey or navy blue?

Hate to be a naysayer because the bookcase actually looks great, but it's still not wide enough. And if you add framed pictures around the TV, the bookcase will appear even shorter while the stuff above will give you a top heavy look.

To help make the wall look balanced I would add a small accent chair in the corner to the right of the tv with your floor lamp...I would not hang pictures around the tv.....I still think that small wall would look great painted a deep charcoal or blue depending on other colors in your home. With the bookcase under tv filled with accents and the built ins filled with accents...I think it is going to start to looked cramped with a bunch of stuff/accents...I would keep it simple.

I noticed the tile around the built ins has a lot of gray so this BM Kendall charcoal would look beautiful on that tv wall.

Although that small portion is visible from the living room. I particularly appreciate the comment from you about the "accents" in the built ins getting overwhelming and cluttered. I feel that Is the case in my home. That is why I plan on taking down the shelves in the bar built in and simplifying it with a simple piece of proportionately sized art.
