Paint color kitchen/ family room combo?

I bought a home where just the kitchen and the family room are an open concept. Kitchen reno is not in the budget at this time and thought about choosing a blue paint, to help define the space especially the kitchen. As you can seethe previous owner chose a tan color for the walls and everything blends together. Any suggestions on paint color?
