It looks good but I would not plant those cacti along the path. Please let us see the finished product.

Personally I liked it better with the upright cactus. It's a loss of character without them. I also the like accent lighting on your inspiration photo. I think I would be inclined not to use the barrel cactus in both locations. I like them near your numbers, but the wavy form of the plants ( aloe?) in the inspiration pic would be cool in the other location. Maybe swap the locations of your large trees if you keep the upright cactus so that you are not planting cactus under the canopy of the bigger tree.

Like your plans. Maybe you can do some type of concrete element or planter to replace the cactus.

Here's an update on the previous photos. Was thinking of putting one of those giant concrete bowls on the ground and having maybe a small Yucca plant and filler plants to fill in the large open area.
