You have room on the large wall for art. Because this room seems so dark the mirror may reflect light int it when you do put in an overhead light. The painting isn't very lively although it's pretty but the room is dark and it may not show well in there.

Are you thinking this painting for over the dresser?

Good lord! So sorry:( any way, I like the single lamp with this mirror Candle. They do not compete with one another.

I think you need to lower the mirror (and the art) some. Right now the mirror feels like a bathroom vanity. Drop it down a bit, and it'll look more cohesive with the dresser. And swap out those sticks with a green plant.

Yes to what Ascorsonelli said! ( still blushing from my misprint). I wouldn't lower the paintings by to much though, just a couple " should do it. They look so wonderful with chairs and rug!

Great makeover! I'm not a fan of sticks and shattery grasses as decor, so I'd remove those. IMO the dresser is the big fly in the ointment here. Too early American/French imitation looking, and the distressing is not fitting in with the dining set. Replacing the traditional hardware and finishing the dresser to match the dining chairs might make it acceptable. This might be a better use for it if you have a mud room or a covered patio, porch or sun room.

decoenthusiast (hope i spelled it right) I dont like the sticks there either will remove them, thanks for the advice on the dresser I am not a huge fan of it either but have to work what I have until I save some money for a nice sideboard but in the mean time should I paint it black and maybe change the hardware??

Oh lynartist the chairs are not new i had them in the kitchen around our breakfast table we actually bought the table and chairs from salvation armyreuphol reupholstered, refinished the chair's and table husband promised me new chairs for my breakfast table;);)

Yes, replace all the hardware with something updated. Fill holes where the medallions are and paint to match the chairs. Hang the mirror 5" above it and place the center point of the art piece 5' above the floor.

Hey guys I am back! It took me a while but hope you guys like what I did. Shortly after rearranging the rooms my husband got sick than my son and than we had ant infestation in my son's rooms which led us with total remodeling the bathroom.
As you can see we have switched everything around moved my sectional from the family room to the FL moved the LR furniture in my family room which works so much better,one lesson learned never buy a sectional LOL!
I have spray painted the handles as groveraxle suggested and I love it,husband was against painting the dresser.

Candle, everything looks spectacular.

I have two suggestions. The staggered art over the fireplace doesn't work. I'd just use one of the florals centered over the firebox. And I'd replace the table to the right of the TV console with a plant that's about as tall as the lamp on the other side. That will have some presence and balance that wall and you won't need anything else there.

I will take your suggestions and add a plant (real plant of course) and have only one pic over the firebox,finally I can say I am done, of to the next room which will be my master bedroom will post my dilemma as soon my budget allows,until than take care guys,:):)
