Vanderwolf Pine has turned brown.

If anyone out there can tell me what to do with my poor pine tree. It's about 5 ft. tall, planted last spring. It did well until the last few snow falls. It started turning pale green and looked wilted and now it's a copper color. I made sure it had plenty of water plus we've had lots of rain this year. I don't see any bugs. I went to cut it down today and noticed some green on the inside plus sap. Can the tree still be alive? Thank you for any help at all! Here is a picture what the inside of a cutting looks like, I just cut it. The branches are not dried out and are still flexible. I need help.
