Help needed with ideas finishing Sun Room wall

We are building a
sunroom (19X15) where we had our
patio. We wanted to be a separate room
by itself with the nook door separating the kitchen/nook area and sunroom. I wanted to leave the brick exposed so that
one of the wall can be an accent. It has
a window. I didn't think much about the details until the frame was put and it
started to look like a room.

Now the brick wall
looks awkward with the window and it is not centered on the wall. It also has some siding panels on the top. We
decided to remove panels and add couple of rows of brick. We have a cathedral
ceiling and the bay window and the brick wall with the window are not
center. Now we are thinking we should
have gotten rid of the brick and should have dry-walled it. Its too late and
want to keep the brick.

What's the best way
to finish the wall and also need some decorating ideas. I plan to use this room for growing indoor
plants and move my pet bird with the cage into this area.

I feel totally lost and really appreciate your feedback!

Glad you kept the brick! I think you are just judging too soon. Once you get everything in place, the brick with just be in the background. Couple things would be to paint the woodwork a color that is closer to the brick maybe with some gray in it. That way there won't be such a glaring contrast. Another thing that screams this used to be an outdoor space is the light. I would remove that. I did a quick mockup so that you can see how the brick will fade back especially if you add some color.

I love the brick. It adds character and that outside vibe. Why not consider changing the sliding doors into french doors. It will give you less of a glass expanse. I would just drywall up to the ceiling in the gable area and paint it white as well. No one will be looking upward.

I think once you drywall the other areas and keep the walls a light white color the brick wall will blend in more. It looks out of place now with all the wood showing. Once you place some comfy furniture your plants and bird out there give it some accent color and it will round out the room. What a nice place it will be to relax!

HI -- Use permanent decking boards (lasts forever ) on the horizontal for the walls in the weathered gray color that will go with the brick -- or pine boards with a white/gray stain or painted white . Locate the bird at the window on the right . Have a lighting fixture that hangs down or is a longer style .

Hi - thanks for your response. could you please elaborate more on the placement of the grey colored board. Are you suggesting to put on top of the window alone, instead of adding more brick.

All - thank you for your timely comments. I feel much better after reading.

I do have another question I forgot to ask. My first floor is all hardwood (dark brown...almost looks black). I plan to have tiles in the sunroom for easy cleanup with dirt from the planting, my pets etc. What type of tiles, color should I go for an easy transition from nook area to sunroom.

I wouldn't stress over the wood inside to the tile outside. I think it's more about what you want the room to look like when it's done. Do you want a light floor? A colorful floor? A dark floor?
