What are you struggling with? Need 2 smaller windows to replace the ones above the porch, remove the unused door. Build new wraparound porch.

such an interesting house...i really like it and i find that quirky little porch pretty cute. it looks like the siding on the porch is not lap siding, so is it possible to convert the right door to a window?

What if this is period, and what is later remuddling? This is a fairly old house (1870?) so it's best not to alter period fabric. The unused door could be painted the siding color, have furniture in front of it, or simply have its hardware removed. The porch itself seems slightly off, though hard to tell from one photo. A wrap around porch doesn't seem right...

I think it is the porch roof line that doesn't look right. Perhaps a shed roof porch with the front side parallel with the main door and the front steps at the front of the porch. If the front door was parallel with the steps, visitors walking up the steps would see the door directly in front of them and head toward it. Then, paint that door a good front door color and paint the other one house color. If you can put lighting beside the appropriate door, that would give a hint.

How about a fancy brass door knocker on the main door and nothing on the other one?

This seems like a project that requires the advice of an architect. I would think that you could end up with a cobbled together problem.

I would remove the entire porch and the right hand door and frame in the hole. I would build a new shed roof porch over the left door, keeping it compact and fitting the scale of the house.

Please hire an architect. The porch does not look right nor does the roof over it. Someone already muddled your house. Please do not add to the confusion. I love the color.

A quick fix: paint unused door and frame same color as body of house, and as nnirgt said arrange furniture so it blocks said door. You could paint your front entry door a "popping" color or if stained wood make sure it is at it's best appearance.

I can see why people gravitate towards the right door. The path to the house looks right at that door, leaving the door on the left in the shadows. I'd look into changing the right door to a window. I'm trying to think of suggestions for the left door to make it stand out more. Maybe paint it a bright color, new hardware, add a welcome sign and door mat?

I agree with previous posters about getting an architect involved. I am currently using one to help modernize our farmhouse exterior. They can best advise on what to do with the unused door. However, I have a similar corner for my front porch. Your roof is way undersized for the space. Take a look at mine...these are photos I already had on my computer. Hope you can see them well enough. And yes, my door happens to be on the right. That's the way the plans were drawn off an old farmhouse (this one is only 25 years old). And you will love the increased porch space once the roof is corrected as the decking will also be larger.
