I have a Viking machine and was always told you have to get the feet made by Husqvarna Viking specifically for Viking machines. The free motion foot I use is a clear plastic "darning" foot and it works great. It is roundish with an open space in the center - the better to see the area you are quilting/darning. You'd be better off buying the Viking foot for your Viking machine, even if it is more expensive.

I have a Viking Lily with Viking free motion and walking foot. They are expensive but consider it an investment. You never have to worry about them not working properly.

I meant not to mention the Viking walking foot - aka an even feed foot. Mine was $89 - and that was about over 8 years ago. I'd hate to think how much they cost now.

Thanks for commenting. I bought a generic walking foot, works great but, wasn't sure about the free motion quilting foot.

I have seen metal darning feet used for free motion - they are shaped pretty much the same as the clear plastic feet, but a metal ring foot but empty in the middle - donut-like, if you can vision that. I would think a generic would be worth a try. I think my foot came included with the machine.
