While they're not colors I would choose I do think your home is quite lovely. In our area builders tend to build almost identical houses in identical colors. It makes for very boring neighborhoods. Builders don't always have the best design sense so I say dig in those heels!

I also think it looks awesome. However, if neighbors have complained to him (assuming this is true), you might also want to think about the future relationship you'd have with those neighbors.

For me, I probably would change it because I'm very bad at handling complaints and I'd rather avoid those awkward situations. A lot of my friends think I'm too soft sometimes, so if you know you LOVE this color and you love how your house looks, you should go for it.

I like the look! I agree with Liz Stigen for the other look can also upgrade value. Like the color blue with the brick look!

Well, I like it because of its boldness. I don't think it's an unusually weird color...what do the neighbors houses look like?

I like the color combination! I would add stone at the bottom of the garage area(probably to late to add to entire garage) but this will give the house more balance. Also, I would add the stone to the column on the porch and add shutters or stucco around the windows ( whichever is permitted in the community) to compliment the stone. Please update us with photos once you decide, I know it will be beautiful!

I love it. You live in the house, not them. How would they feel if you complained about their house choices?

I love it. And how and when did navy blue become "bold"? Give me a break. This is why I would never live in a neighborhood with an HOA.

I like the color. When the landscaping is in, it will soften the edges and it won't look so "bold".

6 neighbors, really? Are you sure you want to live in this neighborhood?? Can you post a picture of the neighboring houses? The color is lovely, unless it is somehow not coming through correctly on the screen. Cannot imagine living somewhere where my neighbors dictate the color of my house like that, especially a large home like this where the neighbors don't appear to be in close proximity.

The builder accepted the colors, then changed his mind because "neighbors" are complaining. HOAs do have the right to disapprove certain colors, and that's just reality. But those conditions, convenants, restrictions, and anything else that might be considered rules must be in writing somewhere. Ask the builder to show you where it's written that you may or may not choose a certain color. The opinions of neighbors don't count unless there's some agreement already in place to back them up. Having said all that, I do firmly believe that it's important to get along with the neighbors, so of course you need to move with full caution and respect. "Digging in" your heels can mean all kinds of things that have the potential for alienating the other homeowners.

Neighbors are just p!ssed because they didn't think of it first and they are stuck with brown, beige and gray. ;)

I imagine even grumpy neighbors could get over it when you're no longer an abstraction and become a real person.

Did you have his approval of your choices in writing?

Is there a compromise color you'd even be happy with? That is, say a shade grayer or less saturated than the current color? Would that satisfy the neighbors, or are they "taupe or bust"? Because if the answer to those two questions is yes, then maybe I'd consider it (at builder cost) but if either one is no, then I think my heels would set in the ground.

As somebody someplace once said, and oral agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on. Tell the builder that you want to see where it says that you can't paint your house this color. If it's not in writing, it doesn't exist.

Not to be brutal.I didnt like the colors. Too dark for my taste. I always prefer Cream/beige mixes. The lighter tones gives peace to my mind. Again just a personal choice.

Their's are boring!!!! Keep your color.

That last house you posted is essentially the same color deepness as yours, only gray instead of blue. I don't know why anyone would complain about your cor, it's a normal house color! I wouldn't compromise unless absolutely necessary.

It's one of my favorite colors from Sherwin Williams. People are weird and most have bizarre control issues. Freedom means a lot of different things to Americans but in my mind this is going TOO FAR. I hope you kept this color, it's beautiful
