I wanted to get a simple, under-cabinet range hood which is not too thick, and picked an inexpensive model from Proline (PLJW 185.36). The manufacturer's spec sheet mentioned the height and depth and both looked reasonable.

Now that my contractor is working on cabinet installation, we realize that the top part of the range hood (the part that goes under the cabinet) is only 11 7/8 inches deep before it start tapering off. My upper cabinets are closer to 14 inches with doors attached.

So I'm not sure what to do about this situation (having incorrectly assumed that upper cabinet depth was standardized and that any range hood would work). What are my options?

Are there and under-cabinet range hood manufacturers that actually give you this dimension on the spec sheet?
