Thankyou very much for your compliments they are very kind. I agree it was beautiful house. I don't know if you got to see it at night but the lighting was breathtaking.

The flooring we used inside and outside including the pool area is a limestone tile called "Chiampo Limestone" and it was acid washed" so that it had a texture to it and was non slip outside.In the bathrooms we used the same tiles but instead of them being acid washed (A pitted look), we had the tile honed so that it was smooth. It was laid in what is known as a french pattern, basically made up of about 8 different tile sizes. many people thought it was carpet before they actually walked on it. We carried the acid washed tile outside because it extended the space and made it look bigger.You can seal the tiles if you like, but they really dont show up much dirt.

Hi, My husband and I are planning to build this modern-mexican house Luis Barragan Style here in Tampa Fl. I am from Mexico and we use lots of lime stone, however, this is not very common in Florida and even some people have said that it is not a good stone for outdoors. I can't believe this since I have seen 400 years old plazas and buildings in Mexico and they still good. What is your imput about lime stone?

one of my favourite architects is Luis Barragan, I even designed a house when I was at university that was inspired by his work. In our architectural practice in Australia we always use natural stone and finishes whenever we can. They are timesless and last forever. We have used limestone outdoors on many projects and we think it is a suitable material. The White house & Pentagon in the United States are both made of limestone and look how long they have lasted. It is a beautiful material. If you are going to use it as a paver make sure it is honed and not polished as it will be slipery when wet. You can also seal the stone to protect it from the elements.
