It seems placement of pot fillers is not standardized, so you can do what works for you. We put ours on the side, but made sure it reached our burners. We also measured the height by taking our biggest pot (a huge stock pot) and adding a couple of inches of clearance. It works great for us. I love having the pot filler and am extremely glad we got it.

In the model homes we do here in Florida we always put the pot filler above the stove

Pot fillers to me are useless you still need to carry the pot full of now boiling water over to the sink anyway so unless you have a sink right beside the stove save the hassle of the plumbing and forget the pot filler and honestly how mant times a week do you need one

i was in the looks nifty category until i thought about the water sitting in the line til the next time it gets used, so unless it gets used multiple times a day i feel kind of yuckish about it.

Plumbing so close to electrical just looks like a nightmare to me.

I'd use a pot filler by using it to fill the pot and then leaving the pot to cool for my able-bodied housemate to empty. At the moment I fill big pots by doing multiple trips between sink and stove with a small pitcher. It is annoying.

I don't know your kitchen equipment so I can't say which is your biggest pot. You'll have to check for yourself, and anticipate if you intend to buy any new/bigger pots that might change your requirements.

I put my first one off to the left because I had a stainless back splash. Also served a dual purpose because I could refill the Keurig as I was making a cup of coffee. Current one sits over the burners. Regarding the number of times it gets used as being a factor to get one...it gets used more than all 6 burners ever get used.
