@emmarene The frame is already done on a house but it's still possible to add something at the front for example interesting porch. However, the only option we have now is do something interesting with trim, siding and stone.

@sandyC. I do have an interior design degree but I've never done exterior before plus the house is really flat. I have some ideas, I was thinking to do porch similar to this one with stone at the bottom and wood columns at the top.

Tacked on tacky bits will not turn a basic Colonial into an Craftsman. It will just give it an even more confused identity. If you wanted a Craftsman, it should have been designed as an Craftsman. A home's nature isn't makeup applied after the fact..

Can you post a 3D view? An elevation flattens out the house making it impossible to understand its shape. If you cannot, post the floor plans.

One thing that needs changing is the windows -- no matter what else you do. Don't mix types. You seem to have single hung and sliders, I'd choose single (or double) hung or casements over sliders.

The porch ceiling is too high as well. The door looks lost.

I'm helping my friends to figure out the exterior for their house. They just asked me to help out but they already had frame done. They gave me the elevation of the house and I just went to take a look at it, today. It looks a bit different. Here's a picture of a house and what they have done so far.

Bow out gracefully. Blame it on their architect not giving them what they wanted from the beginning. There is zero way to do what your friend wants. It will not end well. It is already worse than the original elevation. Huge water management issues have been created, and the whole thing is a train wreck of water damage waiting to happen. You do not want to be in the middle of that.
