where i live pollen and dust get everywhere. along with sunscreen stains and spilled soft drinks, i'd def go with the stripe to better disguise life's little disappointments.

I would go for solid blue on all the seating for a calmer look. And if you want an outdoor rug and/or throw pillows, you can use pattern for that.

Would you get sick of the stripes in a couple years? I like the idea of solid couch and stripe chairs...... or ALL solid and play with changeable accents. striped pillows etc..... they can more easily be replaced and changed out and even change color schemes while keeping the blue base. exciting and have a ball!

I think outdoor furniture should be colorful and fun this is the time and place when you want to relax I would do stripes or even a different pattern and a solid colored umbrella to tie toghther , IMO solid seat cushions show every spill and grease spot.

I would opt for a pattern, stripes or even a geometric or floral. Much more forgiving with normal wear and tear and bright and cheery at the same time.

Thanks for all the input, I may just do a solid sofa with striped chairs, best of both worlds and a little more interesting.
