Planning the tv wall

We are building a new house. These pictures are from the model home and other marketing material. We will not have a fireplace but our tv will go on that wall. That far wall is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door.

I am thinking of using a floating cabinet a few inches above the floor with the tv mounted above at eye level and a sound bar in between. Our ceiling will be vaulted. It is 9' at this wall then goes up from there.

I do not like the idea of the tv being the focal point when you walk into the house and I'm not even sure if it will be high enough to be seen. But then there is this big blank wall! Would it be ok, design wise, to mount a painting above the tv perhaps with a mantel or shelf between the two? I have not seen any pictures of a wall like that.

If you are concerned about seeing the T.V when you walk in have you considered one that disappears into a cabinet when not in use there are many styles then hang a piece of art above the cabinet making sure it is a bit smaller than the t.v.

I have a painting both above and below my TV. I like it better than just the TV.

When mounting a TV directly to the wall, the correct height is eye level when you are sitting in your chair or couch. 1/3 of the TV should be below eye level and 2/3 above eye level. Hopefully you are not short and your significant other is not very tall.

Patricia, Thank you. I like that idea but we have already incorporated in-the-wall wiring for the tv to be hung on the wall.

I wouldn't put a picture above the TV but I would put something like a decorative metal arch or a wooden plaque.

Would there be another wall for the TV in this room? What about to the left is that a wall or another room?

Thank you all for offering such good ideas. I've resisted changing the location of the tv but you have convinced me that I should at least keep that as an option. So I called the wiring guy and ordered a cable outlet placed on that wall! Now, when we actually get the scaled drawings of the structure we can be flexible with planning the furniture placement. Again, thank you. Still, if anyone can come up with a way to combine tv and art on that wall, I'm listening. I've considered shutters or the like but, when open, they would cover the windows.

This shows the TV above the FP, however since you won't have a FP, it can still be used as an idea to hide the TV when not in use.

obscure the TV is to paint the wall it is on a dark color. I like some metallic feature on a wall above a TV rather than art, however art can be added to both sides if done correctly.
