I have never seen them bother skimmia, sarcococca, aucuba or pieris. Or daphne, for that matter. All are evergreen and all are shade tolerant to varying degrees.

Move the rhododendrons out away from the house (and keep them from beneath low-branching evergreen trees) and you may see the weevil damage diminish markedly, not have to throw them away.

Persistent use of nematodes can reduce weevil populations. My sarcococca is undamaged even though growing under weevil-bitten rhodies.

Gardengal, I have to thank you, also, last year you suggested the gold box honeysuckle for a certain spot in my yard and it is doing great, really flourishing in the spot. :-)
