New Dragon fruit stems growing thin and dark green color

Hi guys , i have couple cutting for the Dragon Fruit , the thing is some friend told that they grow thin and unhealthy because of extra shade they got , this tall thin grow was getting like 3-4 hours direct sun with heat like 38 - 41 Cْ which is the reason i tried to hid them from sun as much as i can and only get them morning sun

i didnt do that with those cutting i got them in the most sunny place i have which is about 6 hours of direct sun but i think they still thin as the one before isnt they ??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

here is one i grow before and believe it or not i only expose them to 1 hour of direct sun due to sun burn problems since the base cutting weak againt the sun unlike the others one , this time i transfer them to the sunny place and got them covered with cloth , but as you can see they have slightly thicker stems and extra green but they look weak compared the thin dark green ones

The different between the cutting in the black fabric pots were growing without hormones, unlike the ones in the plastic pots which has the thin stems , i used hormones on them, does it effect stems growth and its color ??
