I have a wedding in August at the end of this summer and one of the main themes at least aestheitcally is lots of flowing ivy. Think overflowing ivy pots in the windows ithe ceremony hall, two giant ivy towers that will hold 4 pots of ivy (xtra large, large, medium , small ) ivy in little jars hanging off the sides of the chairs going up the aisle, ivy hanging baskets outside the church leading up the steps to the building,etc. So a LOT of ivy. Don't get me wrong, there will be ivory flowers mixed in here and there with accents of gold to switch it up a litte, but still very ivy-ish.
But here is the problem....how in the world do I go about collecting all that ivy. My original plan was just to start ripping it down from wherever I can find it on the weekends and maybe (sorry if this is really dumb) sprayit with a sealer to just preserve the look of the ivy and then have enough piled up come august to decorate and fill baskets and pots with...I have sealed other leaf like plants before and it seemed to work. I'm just not sure if this would work with ivy. Should I instead try growing lots of ivy? We are on a budget so buying all the ivy the week of the wedding could get pretty pricey. Any suggestions are appreciated . I included pictures of exmaples of the look we are going for.
