Two kg more capacity? Unless your T1 dryers will use the same drum as the Little Giant dryers, the drum of the T1 dryers is smaller than the Little Giant drum. The increased capacity is because these capacity claims were calculated by stuffing the drum. For washers, it is now recommended to no longer leave any space at the top of the clothes: the washer is full, when you can just about close the door. *yikes*

I hope, these new units won't be as efficient as the current German models: coming from a 1400 rpm spin, a full load takes 177 minutes.

If the air cannot circulate around the drying clothes it would take forever for them to dry. Perhaps the 177 minutes was for the new full load and a smaller load would take less time?

T1 (T for Trockner) is the name of the entire line of current Miele heat pump dryers.

The above data charts you posted....I do not see any model # or model designations. So I'm curious...what model or sub-model is the least efficient and what is the most efficient?

I simply picked the cheapest and most expensive one on Miele's German website. ;) All of them are either A++ or A+++ rated, anyway.

I've just been comparing the current models to one from 2007. The older one would have dried a full (13lbs.) load from the LiGi in 90 minutes - still considerably slower than your dryer. :/

Even the LiGi condenser dryer, that I have, can dry a full load of cottons in about an hour. These times are too long.

That's the way it is, unfortunately.

If you look at Miele's current washer manuals, no Cotton cycle is under two hours. Add drying times on top of that and you are looking at hours just to do one load. :(

Our consumer magazine tested dryers last September and they all ran at least two hours to dry a "to capacity" load. Needless to say, I am hanging on to my evil energy hogging condenser dryer.

When Miele Service was at our house on Friday, he was saying the new T1 Heat Pump dryer that will be available in the USA will dry as fast as the Condenser Miele dryer, but uses 40-60% less energy. Is he lying about times, or just relaying with Miele has told him?? Two hours to dry a load of clothes is totally unacceptable!

My Little Giant vented will dry a huge load of clothes in 30-35 mins, 4 bath towels in less than 40 mins and CA King sheets in 25-30 mins.

Well, I went online and downloaded a few older issues of our consumer magazine and looked at cycle times for Miele heat pump dryers.

13 lbs. load, spun at 1000 rpm, 3.9 cu.ft. drum, Cupboard Dry

2006 model took 1:41 hours

2009 model took 1:49 hours

So... yeah, expect longer cycles if you want to save electricity. Or get a gas dryer.

3:26 hours to dry a load of towels for that new Whirlpool Hybrid dryer (Heat Pump) is 100% unacceptable to me. I mean, that is ridiculous!!!

Does anyone have the Miele Compact Dryer TWF160WP now and can report back on the cycle time?

We just had the TWI180 dryer installed on Saturday and my wife used a lot yesterday. It did a great job on our clothes and seems much more gentle on the clothes than our previous T9822 gas dryer. We were afraid the cycle times would be much longer, but don't notice much if any difference. So far that is a huge positive.

Thanks DBV! I've heard cycles for ventless condenser dryers can be 2 hours. On the spectrum of 30 min to 2 hours (or more!) what were your average load dryer cycles ?

I can't give specific times yet, as we only used it yesterday and we did not track the times. But, my wife says that drying times did not see much/if any different than our previous gas Miele dryer. We were expecting times like you are saying, but that is definitely not the case. We are impressed so far.

Just did a 3/4 load of clothes, mostly cotton including a pair of jeans. Drying time was just under 1 hour. I could not be happier with this dryer!

Our dryer had a fragrance flacon installed. My wife is allergic to perfumes and had a violent reaction to some sleep clothes I dried in it . The smell is designed to last up to 4 weeks. I will try a washcloth impregnated with white vinegar now because the dryer and washer now both stink. But beware of the presence of the perfume, which smells like rotting laundry, and control the strength or, better, remove it, very carefully because it is designed to spill any time it is not held perfectly level, and it stunk up our hands as well. Soaking my hand in soapy water for a few minutes did not remove all the smell.

A very unpleasant experience, after spending 5 grand on laundry machines. I wasn't present at the install, so I don't know whether the installer installed it, or the manufacturer. Be warned.

The fragrance flacon is NOT installed from the factory. It is sealed in a plastic bag. We never used ours.
