I have a house where the entire first floor is going to be covered in hardwood floors. The house is 100 years old and therefore the floors are not even. As a result, I need to somehow deal with room transitions (and uneven floor). There are two options for hardwood floor planks. First, I can arrange the entry area planks north-south and the adjoining rooms (dining and living rooms) east-west. The second option is to add in planks going a different direction only in the room thresholds. The house is more traditional with a Italian Palazzo feel.

Any recommendations about what would be best? Any photos of the different ways to solve this?
