Usually these decisions get made based on the existing plumbing, and the vent stack location. Is this home built already? Is this a Reno of an old home? On slab or stick built? Second level or ground floor? Sorry but way too much info left out here.

Is it exactly 10', or maybe, hopefully, a little more? I would divide it right down the middle and make two 5'x7' rooms. In our last place, we had this exact size and set up. The closet was a walk-in that was 5' wide, and 7' deep with a pocket door. The bathroom was the same size with a tub/shower across the back, the toilet next to it, and a 30" vanity before the toilet.

If it's exactly 10', then I'd keep the closet 5'x7', and make the the bathroom 4.5'x7 with a shower instead of a tub. Our second bathroom, in our last place was 4'x8' so it's totally doable, and comfortable, IMO.

I agree with Rusty , where is the toilet drain and the water to little info as for the above that might work but without all the info who knows.

Rusty and Patricia, this is a Reno of an existing home on the second level. The location of the area designated for the new bath&closet backs the existing shower and toilet. So the toilet drain and water line runs along the southern wall on the left.

Solraven, thanks again for sharing. Where do you think will be the best place to put the doorway if I only want one entrance from the bedroom? I am thinking midway of the 10 feet wall and just have the dividing wall between the space stop short at 4.5 feet.... can this work also?

I'm not a fan of combining a humid bathroom, with a closet. To me, it's asking for a mold problem in one corner or the other, plus you'll have to give up a second towel bar, or storage, depending on layout. That being said, do you want your closet in the bathroom, or your bathroom in your closet? If the stairwell wasn't there, you could've had a walk-through closet with the bath in the back, kind of like Carrie's on Sex and the City, but without the second bathroom door.
