Hi, weighing in late. You asked about big dogs and natural fiber rugs. I have a seventy pound boxer. I would advise against natural fibers. For some reason she prefers to rub and scratch on them. Olefin or nylon seem to hold up much better. Male dogs don't seem to want to mark them as much either. I assume because unlike wool they don't smell like animal to them. Cotton and linen fibers are by nature a weaker that's what make them so soft. I hope that helps a little .

The tv is NOT too high. It's comfortable for viewing over thing on your coffee table, especially your feet. If you can get a taller cabinet. Mine is almost identical but has 6 drawers and shelf. Love your sectional.

Hi. I haven't read your thread but saw you were looking for an area rug. I saw that area rugs at Target were 40% off today...

You need a very large rug. Your sectional measures
9ft 7" X 11 ft 3". It is best to have all feet of the furniture sit on the carpet, but if you want to go a little smaller, have just the front feet on the carpet about 6 inches. Go to a good carpet store to have one cut to size. It will need to be at least 10 ftX 12 ft. Otherwise it will be floating in the middle of the room with nothing to ground it.

I know I about to catch a lot of heat for breaking a major design rule but... I don't like the way the furniture looks on the carpet when the couch has to be against both walls... In my old apartment, I always just had the rug 2-3 inches in front of the couch/loveseat, with the coffee table on it so it didn't move anywhere.

Well in terms of color, I think it'll work really well. In terms of style, I honestly think I like the mix of traditional and more modern geometrical print... Is that usually too clashy?

Tribble, I agree on no green on the paint swatch. To be honest, I was really annoyed when we first painted that it appears so green. We even did 3 coats thinking it was the green underneath showing through. At any rate, I do think that green tones go nicely with the paint (as does blue) in person.

Do you have anything that could be reflecting green on the walls? Like a garden, lampshade, etc etc?

I don't think so about the reflecting green... people commented on the green tone before we even had anything back in the room besides the couch, which was covered in drop cloths. So I'm really not sure where the tone is coming from... not fond of it really!

Live without rug for a while after you get the sofa to see what direction you want to go. A round coffee table with metal frame and would top, less hurt legs! I found it on Hayneedle.
We have a sectional in our vacation home because it's a small room. Better seating and looks less crowded because it streamlines the room. Personally I would like a rug that has more of a subtle pattern. You will have to look a lot. By the way only front legs of sofa should be on rug, so don't get a very large one. Just make sure you can return it if you don't like it in the space.

OK, this looks good. I do think you should slip the rug under the sofa. The couple of inches of wood between sofa and wood just doesn't quite work.

That giant blobby thing completely overwhelms the room. It is the wrong scale. It also clashes with the paint color. You need to start over and return that. And if the boyfriend won't ''let'' you, or move the TV down, or any one of the other hundred suggestions that you've received that would make the room work, then it's time to return his control freak b-hind as well. He doesn't want a partner. He wants a minion with benefits.

For the record, he has "let" me get rid of 90% of his things and change 90% of his house... Moving the tv is not a project we are interested in pursuing at the moment. Our relationship is just fine, but thanks for your concern.

One woman's blobby thing is another woman's retreat. ;-) Laugh it off, Amanda. I can see you did measure 27 times before you bought it and it fits exactly in the room. It's an unconventional choice, and it would be nice to do something equally unconventional with the decor. Let me noodle around a bit. With luck, I'll have a brainstorm and return with something cool.
