I would do it during the first cool or wet spell in September. By then the air is cool for a longer part of the day, the sun is less intense, and the soil is still warm, all of which will reduce the plant stress. Plan to water regularly until freeze.

Sounds like good advice. Also water the plants well the day before so they are well hydrated; reduces stress. I have a variegated Weigela (Florida?) growing on the north side of my shady property, it must get a few hours of morning sun. Seems happy.

How about transplanting Hydrangas ; is it the same time of year?

Yes, now would be the worst possible time.

Fall is a god time to move most things...except things that bloom in late summer/early Fall and things that have fleshy roots.
