I would set the TV where your blue-gray sofa and the bean bag are currently at.

Seems like you maybe like a transitional look.

The floor lamp is great, I would try to find a table lamp that is similar in style.

The wall where the yellow elephant artwork is hanging, you could put a sectional there.

An area rug with a nice wooden coffee table would be great.

This is all under the assumption of getting all or some new furniture pieces.

I would suggest that you stay moderately neutral in both style and color for your sectional. Coffee table could have a mix of metal legs and wooden top to tie in with the metal legs of your floor lamp, or you could have a solid wooden coffee table.

You could also have matching bookcases flanking either side of the TV if you move the TV to where the blue sofa is.

ok, you have some cool stuff. i can tell you have been working on it. i love that end table myself. but now you got here and it is all shoved in. if you are getting rid of your sectional, i would not get another. awkward to deal with. I see beige sectional, and gray? couch? i am going to look in your folders. please say you have some?

yeah, i know, fat chance. it was worth a try. lets take all moveable items out of the room. can the sectional go where the couch is? place the tv across. float the couch and point towards sliding glass doors. can we then have pics from all four sides and a lump pic of the things you pulled out? lamps tables etc.

oh is the bean bag a must have?

It looks like a dining/living room area! I would try the TV between the two windows with a pair of lounge chairs on either side. Have the oatmeal and steel sofa facing the TV and the two chairs. Find an end table and lamp to coordinate with floor lamp and put floor lamp by chair next to slider window and table and lamp in opposite corner by other chair.

Place a dining table and chairs on the long wall opposite the now placed sofa and TV wall. Add dining chairs. Put rug under sofa area, add art work on dining table wall, find a place for a closed storage closet for clutter, and tuck in a narrow work desk for mail, computer etc. Small and neat as in lap top and lamp and chair and trash can.

Similar to this set up except that where they are showing a wall you would have space for a dining room table. I think it could fit especially if you selected Mid Century Chairs that are leggy like those shown in the picture. Try second hand stores or for a posh look check out crate and barrel. I do not know your budget but you can find some great 'looks' at Crate and Barrel or a similar store; good luck.

PS The room is cozy enough that hiring an interior designer might be a good idea if you are short on time and ideas.

Great space with a lot of potential! We suggest adding a rug, coffee table, side tables, and some accents! Try flipping the sectional onto the wall with the yellow elephant artwork or placing it in the corner where the bean bag chair and moving the blue-gray sofa where the sectional is currently. The TV must come out of that cramped corner. I'd move it opposite the yellow elephant wall. Then the sectional can turn with its back about 12-18" from the elephant wall, so you can have drapes hung floor to ceiling flanking the windows. You can match them to the cover over the slider, or look for a gray and yellow pattern to work with the elephant. You'll want to lower him so the frame is 5" above the sofa's back. The quartered storage piece you now have under the elephant can go in the current TV spot, and I'd paint it black and fill in will four storage containers that add a more contemporary vibe. You need art above it, but the art should only be 75% as wide as the piece of furniture under it, so look for one that is more vertical. Put the floor lamp in the corner left of the large window by that oddly placed light switch. I would sell the gray sofa and collegiate bean bag on CraigsList and invest the $$ in a pair of chairs to float with their backs to your bar, facing the door. Swivel chairs like these would be nice, but these are well out of your price range - just for inspiration and to pick up the maroon color you've started with.
