I would ask your builder when you should expect to see his guys show up and clean this mess.

We expect her (the builder) to clean it up to our satisfaction. We live in a relatively small town where reputations are very important to those who want to stay in business.
She thinks that power washing is all it will take. I hope she is right. The two hearths inside our home look almost as bad. Those certainly can't be power washed. Guess she will need to buy a product specifically for dried mortar.

Good luck to her IMO it will take more than power washing and do not let this slip by get on it now the mortar ain’t getting any less hard.

You are exactly right, Patricia. They have been down three weeks already. We, the home owner are concerned, but our builder is not concerned enough.

It takes muratic acid and a wire brush to get that off. It's not fun.

That's why I am saying get the builder back... because it is not going to be an easy cleanup with a power washer. Whoever did the mortar work is not an experienced person, and fixing it will be more than they bargained for.

I surely hope that Jenny @ Luxe Homes and Designs is reading this while she's on vacation.

Well Im not on vacation yet. And as we mentioned to you previous times we are certainly going to get this cleaned up for you. It will require pressure washing and maybe even some muratic acid scrubbing just like I told you before. It will look as it should once we are finished with it, I assure you.

What are your plans for the hearths?

You need to show us in person what you are talking about the hearths.

Also, as far as the pavers goes, it would have been pressured washed already, but you told us to hold off a while longer. Regardless, I assure you it will be taken care of.

This is the hearth...another sloppy job. As a so called builder of luxurious homes, is this what you accept? I could say a lot more.
Yes, we told you not to power wash while we were moving or the sod was laid. We said from Tuesday on. I'm ending this forum now. We are waiting on you to finish this house. A year is not long enough?

Oh my....that hearth is brutal.

Power washing with water likely won't clean it, but their are various masonry cleaners like EacoChem's NMD 80 designed to clean it off when mixed with water and pressure washed. Not a big deal to clean. Be careful with muratic acid it works but can deface some brick.
