I tried them when i lived in India (23 years ago). All i remember is tangy cool flavor. Usually available in hot summer months and used as smoothies. I have a plant now but only 2 berries this year so will let you know how it taste.

I just got one this year and it was covered with fruit. The size of a mature fruit is smaller than a blueberry. The taste resembles that of a prune--rather refreshing. The only problem I have with it is that there are lot of gritty little seeds in the fruit that I find it hard to spit out. I still have no idea how I will use it ... If I were to blend it into a smoothie, I'm concerned with the seeds. I'd like to find out how I can best use it besides popping into the mouth.

So i ended up with 2 fruit for the first time. Both tasted good to me and reminded me of old days. You have to let them mature to deep red in color when you can eat them. We use to sprinkle some black salt and usally served out of fridge. Both of fruit only had 1 seed. Maybe this is due to different varieties.

This puzzles me as to what those grainy little things I was spitting out of my mouth were ... Now that I remember, I do recall spitting out something bigger than the little grainy stuff. Perhaps that was the single seed and the grainy stuff was just the texture of the fruit? ... not sure. The next time it fruits again, I'll have to dissect it and see what's in it ... lol. Now, I must try to get this little babe to fruit again for me. I hope yours will fruit more for you this Summer too.

I have quite many plants in my garden, but I'll try to remember this guy and follow up with its progress. Now it's in the pot and I plan to keep it close to the house so the birds don't get to the fruit before I do :)

Its more of a texture i think and i had them too. From what i remember we did get them thru out summer in India. But i read in few places that it will bloom in spring and fruit will be ready in summer. Again not sure of the variety i have but my mom brought it back from my aunt's house in India.

Looks like my plant is blooming again. So maybe they do bloom thru summer.
