No support here I"m afraid. Between leaders and enders projects, tops waiting for quilting, travel projects, and special orders I am drowning. I have to stand on top of my UFOs to breath. Welcome to the pool.

I too decided I needed some things to do while RVing. Each time I've packed things - and extra things just in case. Each time I've brought them back home with the exception of one project that absolutely had to be finished in order to deliver in person. The next adventure - there will be no projects with me. Then I can see which is my best option. I always manage to find things to do to fill my days while away. Get your new project organized and ready to start when you return. Take ONLY the one - finish it so upon your return - you can jump right into something new. Who knows? Maybe you'll rethink the new project and come up with another way to use the new fabric. Or ---- maybe you'll find a quilt store that just lures you in and forces you to buy - yet again - another beautiful piece of fabric. Have a good trip either way.

I am kind of on the same page as Rita. I only work on one top at a time. When the top is finished, it can join others in the UFO pile. But... And it is a big but...I am always thinking ahead, planning, pulling fabrics in my head. I think most of us do that anyway. So Rita, as already suggested, take only the one project and you will have something to look forward to when you return. Have a good trip.

I guess I have a short attention span and I tend to get bored with a project in the middle. Then I get to resenting it because I feel like I "have" to work on it. So in the closet it goes, and out comes another project. I try to keep rotating ones that are already in progress, but I do go off the rails and start new ones, too. :)

I tend to look at it differently. It's the process that counts. Whatever I am working on at the moment is the key project. If I switch midstream, that is then the main project. I might travel with a small cross stitch project or embroidery and be piecing the minute I get home. Who cares. It's the creative juices any way you do it and enjoy the process for what it is.

I have a small project to take along and reserve big ones for the sewing room.

I usually had only two projects going at one time. If I got tired of one, I switched over to the other. However, this winter I kitted up five, yes five, quilts to work on in Hawaii. All the pieces were cut. And then I got into Mahjong, and I finished only one (although I did work on the others a bit). So now I have all these UFOs to complete. And I am working on one that I didn't take to Hawaii, so that makes six all going at once, plus another one or two that I had started before. OMG, this is getting bad. Now I see how it happens.

Isn't it normal to have more then one project going! LOL! I have a crochet project going, that I started while on vacation, a knitting project that's an UFO, some cards that I'm in the middle of putting together, plus sewing projects galore! Take the one project, work on it when you can and look forward to starting the new fabric project when you get home. I like ibquilt4fun comment about finding a quilt shop and maybe make a purchase..............1 Have a good trip.

It's even worse when you're working on different crafts at a time. Crochet, knit, sewing... :o lol Don't let it stress you. Part of all of this is to have fun, be creative and ignore the stresses of life for a bit. :)

Thanks Rita for letting me know I'm Doomed! DOOMED I say..just plain doomed! LOL. I have multiple projects at any one time and I'm good with that...I agree with toolgranny...it's the creative process that won't be tamed or organized. ( funny, I can't stand it when my house is in disarray...go figure! ) do I need to see a shrink? :-)
