Yellow is tricky as an exterior color. Make sure it is a paint formulation with an abundance of red tint to offset any green reflections from foliage or vegetation around the house. You want a warm, buttery yellow, and I would recommend testing the color on all four sides of the house, as it will look different in each direction. I suggest a full-spectrum exterior color so it will change with the light and the seasons. I would also suggest picking another trim color, other than white, as it would be more period authentic.

A butter yellow body would look beautiful with a forest green trim and a deep red door.

From what you are saying, the fact that there is another yellow house 2 doors down would move me to choose another color.

I would spend some time browsing images of exteriors similar in style to your lovely home and try to get excited about another color scheme.

Check out different shades of blue- I think the right shade of blue would work very nicely with your gray roof, black door and white trim.

I also think improving the landscaping will go a long way to enhance curb appeal.

I know you want to use Benjamin Moore paint but did you know that Behr Marquee is rated the best paint right now? It is mildew resistant; fade resistant; and is very easy to clean! I mention Behr because I just purchased a beautiful butter yellow for my kitchen. From what I can tell from the sample painted in my kitchen, it does not have any undertones. It is Soft Buttercup and it does come in Behr Marquee!

With the neighbors also having yellow you will need to come up with another option - it sounds like the preference is pastels based on your choice so...

I go back and forth on changing the color. I was upset when neighbors chose to paint their house a very similar yellow when our has been yellow forever - but what can I do?? I love yellow so I'm still leaning that way - but considering possibly Kingsport Gray or Desert Twilight for a change. Neighbors on either side of me are blues so I want to avoid that.

Yes! If you love yellow, paint it yellow! That said - Yellow is VERY tricky, I wanted my house yellow when I first painted it 23 years ago. Even though I'm a designer and test swatched it - it turned out too bright and I immediately had it re-done. Expensive mistake. My advice is to TEST, TEST, TEST AND TEST AGAIN - several colors you like in large swatches preferably 4' x 4' or larger in a few areas if possible, with 2 coats of paint, and let it dry fully. THEN look at it during a few different times during the day - Oh and BTW, I've found Sherwin Williams Resilience or Duration to be the best paint - ask at your local store and they'll tell you what's best for your home and climate.
