need help with my living room

I am a employee at a university so I have my housing provided for me, but the catch is the only thing I can do to my living area is change the color of the walls. I have a dark trim (as seen in the picture) and light carpet. I am confused as to what color I should paint the walls that will go well with the trim and the carpet and help neutralize the tackiness of the trim. Thanks for your help!
