Slugs....

So, this year I moved from the 5 gallon buckets to a kiddie swimming pool (first attempt at raised bed gardening). Planted a little late (early May) because we had a chilly Spring here in Western NC. The shoots that had started dropped off and then all of my tubers took off.

Last week I noticed something was munching on my leaves. On Monday when I took my husband to work at 6 a.m., I inspected the garden and realized that slugs were feasting on my babies. The plants are still really healthy. Some are really tall (they liked the manure we added to the soil). The new growth also appears to be healthy. Will they be okay, or do I need to cut them back and try again?

Fingers crossed for a successful sophomore year of growing dahlias!
