upper cabinets in one finish and lower cabinets in another

I have oak cabinets in my log home that need to be refinished. I was thinking about a white paint pickled on the upper cabinets and refinish the lower cabinets in oak finish. Would that look silly? I am afraid of making a mistake that would be very costly to fix.

      I think the upper cabinets would look better if they had knobs the same color as the bottom cabinets

      how about a pale or butter yellow on the walls. This is what I want to do and maybe a lighter shade of blue. Would that work?

      Yellow is a great accent color for these blue/grey colors. We did a few accents here in yellow and the exterior of the house is yellow. With lighter shades of blue, I would just keep it very grey, because it can tend to look baby blue.

      Marilynn...they do have the same knobs. They are clear glass. Kind of a vintage look. They just stand out more on the darker cabinets.

      Oak is very porous. Keep that in mind when painting oak. You will need many, many coats to cover it. That's why oak is normally stained.

      Oak can be painted very easily. If a sealing type primer is used, you wouldn't need more than two coats of a high-quality finish paint!
