Yep, you can get cameras pretty cheap now. Consider a package setup with wired or wireless cameras connected to a central unit with a DVR inside to record video. They usually record when the camera's motion sensor goes off. If something happens, you can pull up the stored video.

Places like Parts Express have the equipment about as cheap as you can find it anywhere.

How long have you lived here and how long has this been going on? Did you piss anyone off lately? :-D How well do you know your neighbors? Can you talk to at least some of them in person, the ones you trust and don't think are the culprits? As in 'I have no idea what's going on here, have you seen anything suspicious?'

You might want to make police reports and take pictures when this happens. Every time. Record the time and date. If you find out who it is, you have a record of all the incidents.

Hey tox, so I already have cameras installed in the house but then it seems like they are throwing it on the far side of my house which are the blind spots of my camera. I been living here for the past 5 years already and this trashing thing only happens once in awhile. I highly doubt that I pissed anyone off since in this neighborhood people don't associate with each other. However, our next door neighbor just moved in recently around a year ago. In the beginning the elder hit my car and didn't want to apologize or admit that it was his fault and that took a long time and in the end we just forgotten about it and let it go. There was also once where we saw their family members who was old enough to act, toss their unwanted trash from their car onto our place. Some of the trash are from Starbucks and there are some kids order, which makes me think that it is them, since the trash is right next to their house. But I don't want to jump into conclusions. Aside from that I previously talked to some who I usually would say "hi" when passing by, but they also said that they weren't sure who did it.

Upon further review your list included a bunch of items that trash services may not normally pick up. Bulky items like sofas and mattresses, some trash services require a special call and an extra fee. Tires cannot go into the landfill at all in most states, they have to be taken to a tire shop where they go to a recycler or at least get cut up before landfilling. If this happens mostly with weird items like that, someone may be trying to avoid paying extra fees.

Whenever you have trash of any kind, take pictures and look for identifying clues. Receipts, stuff lost in couch cushions, etc. You never know.

If you live in a place where trash service is private and everyone hires their own, someone may be avoiding paying for trash service entirely. They rotate their dumping to different places so it seems random. They might use a nearby store dumpster one week, a ravine the next, your house the next, and so on.

Add or re-aim cameras, I'd say.

Add more cameras and adjust others, 2nd that.

Once you can determine who, you can act. Until then, I would not send letters.

Once you know who it is, you take those photos around and talk to the other neighbors and get them behind watching. Once you stand up for yourself, you cannot back down. It could get worse. Make sure you turn that recorder on on your phone when you go talk to the person, so you have some proof you discussed it with them. If they retaliate, take notes and send them a certified letter. If it continues, you go to the police.

Let them know, if they keep doing it, that is where it will eventually go.

Then clean your house and yard and sell it :P
