That is a simply beautiful stone. You are right to only use it on the island. I don't think it will make a good backsplash. It would be too much. Have you a bath in need of a makeover with a new countertop? I am inclined to go with a simple, interesting backsplash - maybe a white or gray herringbone to the ceiling? Be sure that you find your favorite parts of that slab to mark for your island top so you get the best of what is there!

I love the stone but not as a backsplash and when you are doing the overhang for stools use steel supports that do not show instead of those ugly corbels that are so often used . I would use a nice simple gray glass subway tile with matching grout for the backspalsh and IMO the white quartz would be perfect on the perimeter

i have been glued to Houzz for months but this is my first post so it is much appreciated! Yes- hidden steel supports are planned- I completely agree! I like the grey glass tile and matching grout idea- behind 48"range too or ss there? Worried that it being so large ss will look too commercial and break up the flow.

Such a gorgeous stone, loving it! I would use it only on the island, that way it will really stand out. White quartz seems like a better option to me for perimeter cabinets than gray (more contrast with island stone). For the backsplash, I would go with something simple, like a white marble tile with some grays in it, I believe Grecian marble tile is the one (that would be a great compromise between the island and perimeter countertop colors). A beautiful choice for the island! For the backsplash, look into marble options. You definitely need something simple, but you don't have to go with plain white subway tile. Calacatta marble tile with its whites and grays would probably be a wonderful choice.
