Quartzite as backsplash too? Paint above or grey glass, or to ceiling?

I just selected a beautiful (yet bold!) Azul Imperial quartzite for the island (will overhang for stools on 2 sides), and depending on how I lay it out I could use some remaining as a 114"x28" backsplash on the range wall that has no upper cabinets, so do I fill above that with a painted wall (redoing kitchen/dining/familyroom in light grey likely) or grey painted glass? Or turn the stone and allow the quartzite to reach the ceiling on the left and right of the 48" range and hood and have a stainless steel backing with shelf behind the range. I have white glossy cabinets on the perimeter and above window with walnut trim and Semihandmade Walnut on the island and flanking the fridge. For the perimeter countertops, I am leaning toward white quartz so not competing w/island, but considering a grey quartz instead. Suggestions?
